The Best Good Pals Court Cards - Jacks, Queens & Kings

Posted by James Kiernan on

In this blog we want to showcase some of the best features of Good Pals decks, that of which is our court cards.

Our designer puts in meticulous work to perfect our court cards. All our courts are fully custom and either take on a more classic design or more often than not a design that matches the theme of the deck - e.g Halloween, Christmas, etc.

Halloween Tales Court Cards:

Halloween Tales is probably our best example for the level of effort that goes into custom courts. All 12 court cards are fully custom Halloween Tales characters and we even added a 13th court in the back of the deck because we couldn't decide which Queen of Spades was best to use!

For Halloween Tales V1, we opted for an off-white background for the courts. Halloween Tales would see us adapt the background colours to match the back design of the deck. The Special Edition HTV2 had an entirely black base colour for the deck on the fronts and backs so we decided to mix in orange colours for nice contrast effects.

Christmas Playing Cards Courts:

Our Christmas deck has tonnes of loveable Christmas characters such as penguins, reindeers, snowmen and even Santa Claus himself!

We put our heart and soul into this deck, it was definitely the most time we had ever spent in the design phase out of all our decks. Now that we have a few unique deck designs under our belts, our process of refining and perfecting the deck has definitely improved and the standards have become higher.

In previous projects I perhaps rushed to the finish line once the project was nearly over. It can be a fatiguing process constantly reviewing files of one playing card project but we took our time and waited until it felt right. The final result was brilliant work from our designer and I couldn't of been happier with the deck!

For this project we wanted to move away from themed courts and create a more traditional deck of cards but with a Good Pals twist. You can see with the court frames, standard pips and royal attire that we were going for a more familiar looking deck of cards but still with enough customisation to show its a Good Pals deck.

We wanted to take on a more youthful approach to the court cards too. To add a little more customisation into the mix, we gave half of the court cards a skeletal make-over. The hearts and clubs show the court characters in their normal form, whilst the diamonds and spades show their skeletal transition.

Our very first release! All the court cards in this deck feature skeletal characters with fully custom robes. We opted to design these cards without a frame which is a common feature in playing cards so that we could have more room to add extra design features such as flying poker chips and coins.

And there we have it! As of October 2025, we have produced 4 unique playing card series and these are the standout court cards.

We would love to know what you think of our courts and if you have a favourite in particular.

James - Good Pals
